Painting Title:-The Sermon on the Mount

 Text: Matthew 5 - 7

To me, the seven red houses symbolise the seven deadly sins [pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed, sloth] that hinder spiritual growth. This is re-inforced by the fact that the red houses have no doors or windows. They’re closed to the light  that’s streaming from the heavens and shining on the books of Torah. No-one is looking out or listening from behind curtains. The red houses are like burning coffins for the living dead.
