| Painting Title:- Calming the Storm
Text: Mark 4 v 35 - 41
This painting recounts Mark 4: 35-41 by confronting the viewer with the emotions
of the event.
The disciples are terrified as the boat rocks violently. One is clinging
to the edge and another is swamped by tarpaulin. Is it the storm or Jesus'
presence of which they're more afraid? The disciples have dared to follow
Jesus this far. They've left the beach - they've also left family homes and
businesses - entrusting their destiny to Jesus, and also to the sea. Now
they're fearful that it was all a big mistake.
