Painting Title:- Carrying the Cross Text: John 19 v 17 Turner has taken an audacious gamble by painting Jesus as relaxed and sauntering on his way to crucifixion. One could almost hear Jesus whistling as he carries his light - weight cross. Turner does not deny the violence and horror of the event but peers through it to the infinite love that underwent suffering and death freely.
